The Qipanjing-Wuhai section of the new Rongcheng-Wuhai expressway is now ready for traffic, according to authorities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

As the final section of the expressway to be built, the section received total investment of 3 billion yuan ($488.81 million) and was constructed with a length of 52.04 kilometers.

Rongwu expressway runs from Rongcheng in North China's Shandong province to Wuhai in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with total length of 1,820 km. It is now one of the main roads on the national expressway network.

Following the opening of this section, the whole expressway will connect Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and other western provinces with Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong.

It is expected to play an extremely important role in speeding up construction of the national expressway network, strengthening economic cooperation and facilitating travel between Inner Mongolia and other areas.
