Triathlon hopefuls start race in Inner Mongolia

The 2019 National Winter Triathlon got underway in Liangcheng county, Ulaanqab, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 24.

Sponsored by China Triathlon Sports Association and Inner Mongolia Sports Bureau, the competition attracted over 120 athletes.

The grueling contest included running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing, with contestants divided into different groups according to age and ability.

It is hoped that the race will set a foundation for future sports events, with the triathlon the first national event of this kind to be hosted in the autonomous region.
