As the only national high-tech zone in northwest Hunan province, Changde High-tech Industrial Development Zone received approval from the State Council as the seventh national-level zone of its kind in Hunan in February 2017. Spanning a total planning area of 62.8 square kilometers, the zone governs three parks: Qiaonan, Guanxi, and Shibantan.
Sitting at the junction of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city cluster, Wuhan city circle, and Chengdu-Chongqing metropolitan area, the zone enjoys superior geographical position and a three-dimensional transportation network. It is 5 kilometers away from Changde Railway Station and 10 km away from Changde Port.
Over the past few years, it has devoted itself to setting up an innovation-driven pattern to develop its leading industries, covering advanced equipment manufacturing, new materials, and electro-optical information, while paying more attention to introducing more strategic emerging industries and high-tech projects to push forward the construction of its six specialized parks, which are Zoomlion Equipment Manufacturing, Broad Prefabricated Building, electro-optical information, new materials, intelligent manufacturing, and military and civilian integration, aiming to build a distinctive modern industrial system.
In the first half of 2018, the zone achieved a total industrial output value of 9.28 billion yuan ($1.37 billion), a year-on-year growth of 10.7 percent. Its added value of industries above a designated scale reached 1.83 billion yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent. The fixed-asset investment and fiscal revenue reached 2.38 billion and 289 million yuan respectively.
