High School Affiliated to Shannxi Normal University

The High School Affiliated to Shannxi Normal University was founded in 1910. It is located in the southern suburb of the ancient city and Qujiang New Area, close to the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and across the road from Datang Furong Garden. The school is the basic humanities education center in the southern suburbs.

In December 2008, it was one of the first Shaanxi province Model High Schools approved by the provincial education department; in November 2012, it was listed by the Ministry of Education as a pilot informatization unit; and in 2017 it was listed by the Ministry of Education as a “National Primary and Secondary School Mental Health Educational School with characteristics”. in the “Top 100 Most Influential Primary and Secondary Schools in China 2017” released by the principals’ association, which has nearly 200,000 elite principals nationwide, the school ranks 47th among national middle schools and 2nd in Xi’an.

The school is backed by Shaanxi Normal University, which has a unique source of teachers. Within a reasonable structure, young and middle-aged teachers are the main body. Over 90 percent of the teachers have senior and intermediate professional titles, and over 63 percent of them have senior professional titles. The school has 217 teachers, including nine special-grade teachers, six doctorates, 152 master’s degree holders, and 30 national, provincial and municipal key teachers, seven subject leaders, 58 provincial and municipal teaching experts, and 19 provincial, municipal and regional famous teachers’ studios (workshops).

The school’s campus culture is a beautiful attraction. Student clubs are well-established and of numerous kinds: drama troupes, model united nations societies, sinology societies, orchestras, folk bands, choirs, dance teams, fashion design and performance teams, basketball teams, volleyball teams, football teams, track and field teams, and model airlines are among them.

The International Department was founded in 2009. It now has an AP curriculum, A-LEVEL curriculum and IFY curriculum operating system. It is a comprehensive international course in Shaanxi province and a destination for overseas students, with small class sizes, pure English-style teaching and management, and an authentic English learning environment.
