Tourism revenue rose 31.7 percent to 14.89 billion yuan ($2.2 billion) in Guangxi, as 24.44 million New Year revelers visited the region during the Feb 4-10 Spring Festival holiday, a year-on-year increase of 23.3 percent.
Leisure ecotourism, cultural experiences and family fun were three most popular categories among the travelers, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Meanwhile, the improved traffic infrastructure has increased the accessibility of tourists attractions and made self-driving tours trend in the region.
Big data suggests that most Guangdong self-driving tourists were destined for Hezhou, Guilin, Guiping and Yulin. The most visited destinations by travelers from East China were Guilin and Beihai, while tourists from North China showed additional interest in the capital city Nanning.
