The organizing committee of the 14th National Winter Games plans to recruit 2,500 volunteers in the host cities of Hulunbuir, Chifeng, Xiliin Gol League and Ulaanqab, according to a press conference held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Jan 29.

Volunteers will be needed for tasks such as translation, event hosting, and to provide information to visitors.

The organizing committee is seeking volunteers mainly from universities in the host cities. However, volunteers keen to offer their services at the event are welcome from all walks of life.

Applicants have to fulfill certain requirements, with minimum age and language regulations. People who have volunteered at similar large events in Inner Mongolia will be especially welcome.

The 14th National Winter Games, scheduled to open in Inner Mongolia on Feb 16 next year is seen as a prelude to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

As the highest-level winter sports event in China, the central and regional governments have been attaching great importance to preparations for the event.
