Gongbei Checkpoint in Zhuhai, the main point of entry between the Chinese mainland and Macao, processed a record 400,000 crossings per day and a total of 144 million crossings in 2018, while still maintaining safety and order.

The huge number of people was managed successfully despite the limited space in Gongbei Port. There have been no major incidents endangering national security or social stability reported in the Gongbei Port area for many years – an achievement considering it has become the busiest checkpoint in the country.

As road and infrastructure maintenance is underway, innovative administrative efforts have strengthened service quality, monitoring, and management.

The public was highly involved in the process. There are two areas where 24-hour volunteer services are offered, including consulting and cleaning, benefiting more than 60,000 travelers, according to a local official.
