Inner Mongolia sees 401.1 billion’s tourism revenue in 2018

According to statistics released by a conference on the culture and tourism of Inner Mongolia, the whole region welcomed more than 1.30 billion tourists and its tourism revenue rose to 401.1 billion yuan ($59.05 billion) in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 1.72 percent.

In 2018, Inner Mongolia made several efforts to develop infrastructure construction for tourism and promote rural tourism. A total of 995 public toilets were established and 70 tourism projects for alleviating poverty were set up to help 86,000 residents get out of poverty.

At the same time, the region actively cooperated with surrounding provinces and neighboring countries. It successfully held a China-Russia-Mongolia-Kazakstan summer camp, as well as participated in the Moscow International Travel Fair and many other activities to promote the region's tourism.

Furthermore, Inner Mongolia's Arshihaty Stone Forest in Hexigten Global Geopark was rated as a 5A-level tourism site in 2018 and the whole region now boasts five 5A tourist attractions. A total of 15 tourist attractions were rated as 4A-level, 12 tourism sites were rated as 3A, and Wuhai Lack was certified as a regional holiday resort last year.
