Several foreigners participated the third plenary session of the fifth session of the 7th Sanya Municipal People's Congress on Jan 20.
It was the first time foreigners have attended a local people's congress in Sanya.
The invited overseas representatives hailed from countries such as the US, Italy, Russia, Singapore and France. They all currently work in Sanya.
The move demonstrated Sanya's commitment to enhancing the openness and transparency of its government affairs, improving its business environment, and building the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
