Fujian will push for cross-Strait cooperation projects between the mainland and Taiwan this year, including supplying water, electricity and gas to Kinmen and Matsu.

Tang Dengjie, governor of Fujian, made the remark on Monday when delivering the government work report to the annual session of the provincial people's congress.

In early August, Fujian started to supply water to Kinmen, a small island close to the mainland.

Tang said Fujian would also promote bridge construction to link the mainland with the small islands.

The governor said that Fujian will take further measures to facilitate Taiwan compatriots, especially young people, to study, open startups, seek jobs and live in the province.

In 2018, Fujian with its geographic adjacency to Taiwan, saw trade volume nearing 80 billion yuan ($11.8 billion) with Taiwan.
