Zhangjiagang leads in ecological civilization

The Ecology and Environment Department of Jiangsu Province recently identified the second group of demonstration villages and towns for ecological civilization construction.

One town and 4 villages in Zhangjiagang, a county-level city in Jiangsu province, are included on the list. They are Jingang town, Baijiaqiao village in Yangshe town, Jiannong village in Nanfeng town, Jincun village in Tangqiao town and Guangming village in Jinfeng town.

Zhangjiagang leads in ecological civilization construction across the nation. In recent years, the Zhangjiagang government ramped up promotion of that goal. Shagang Group has developed a recycling economy to realize energy-saving and cost-reductions.

Changyinsha Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park and Shuangshan Island Tourist Resort are designated as "non-development zones", and are focused on the development of ecological agriculture and tourism.

Zhangjiagang is committed to integrating green development into its economic and social development.

The government has long striven to promote the construction of infrastructure and sustainable projects. Numerous shelter forests, wetland parks and ecological towns have been built to improve rural and urban living conditions.

It also has increased the number of public bicycles available in the city and organized a series of green activities to promote green shopping, green buildings and green transportation, creating a healthier and safer living environment.

Zhangjiagang is striving for high-quality and sustainable development which not only seeks economic development but also realizes ecological civilization.
