The American sports equipment supplier Nike, Inc announced the operations of its new logistics facility in Taicang, Jiangsu province on Jan 10.
With an investment of $100 million, the new facility increases the area of the company's logistics center in the city by 30 percent to 260,000 square meters, which will greatly improve the center's cargo handling ability.
“The new facility marks another important event for Nike's development in China,” said Dong Wei, vice president of Nike, Inc, at the launch ceremony. “The move also indicates the company's confidence in China's economic prospects and Taicang's favorable business climate.”
Dong hopes the new logistics project will better serve Chinese customers and contribute more to the city's logistics trade.
In 1996, Nike, Inc established its first subsidiary in Taicang and five years later, the company's logistics center in the Chinese city started operations.
