Taicang in East China's Jiangsu province recently released its construction targets in 2019 during the National People's Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference.
The city's targets can be summarized through eight sub-topics.
1. Education and culture
Renovate and expand two middle schools and one primary school, improve the management of voluntary summer nursery classes and establish two 24-hour libraries and one self-service station.
2. Medical treatment
Renovate 11 community healthcare centers and upgrade local hospitals' service information systems.
3. Employment, entrepreneur and social assurance
Establish a startup service platform, business incubators and social assistance centers, develop an integrated management service platform for social assistance, and formulate measures to help poverty-stricken families.
4. Elderly care
Establish 10 day care centers and two senior citizens' homes, as well as renovate convenient and accessible facilities for 20 poverty-stricken families with senior citizens.
5. Public transportation
Add another 20 public buses, establish 40 smart bus shelters, optimize 20 commuting routes, and pave a 16.8-kilometer municipal level backroad and a 12.1 km town-level backroad.
6. Urban management
Spruce up 10 back streets and 342 electricity boxes in old towns, renovate squares within seven km of downtown and 25 public restrooms, and sort and recycle waste in 135 communities and 18 villages.
7. Ecological environment
Establish 200,000-square meter ecological corridor, renovate 3.5 km of greenway, dredge 5.47 km of waterway and broaden 3.1 km of waterway.
8. Public service and supporting facilities
Upgrade 12 grocery vegetable markets and establish another three such markets and 20 charging stations.
