Germany city eager to cooperate with Xiangzhou District

A visiting delegation led by Gunter Czisch, mayor of the German city Ulm, toured Xiangzhou District's key enterprises and major technology bases on Jan 8 and 9 to survey its development vitality and business environment as an aid to further bilateral cooperation.

Ulm, the seat of the University of Ulm, is on the River Danube in the federal German state of Baden-Württemberg. Not only a university town, it has varied industries and is something of an economic center.

The delegation's visit follows one by Xiangzhou last November. The two sides intend to cooperate in various fields such as technology and education.

Officials from the Investment Promotion Service Center of Xiangzhou District accompanied the visitors to several district strong points including Gree Electric Appliances, the world's largest air conditioner manufacturer, and Sanxi Sci-Tech Innovation Small Town in northwest Xiangzhou.

Xiangzhou Party Chief Yan Hong updated them on the district's location advantages, innovation environment, industrial foundation, living environment, development opportunities and other related factors of interest.

A symposium was held on the second day to give details concerning preferential policies and other aspects of concern to companies seeking to expand or invest. Attendees included representatives from MTU Aero Engines, Wal-Mart, and ZF Friedrichshafen Group.

Czisch said he felt strong support from the Xiangzhou government which will be a great help in developing extensive cooperation between the two sides.
