Promising projects to station in Xiangzhou District

The recent Xiangzhou District Sci-tech Entrepreneurship Competition promoted the improvement of various business projects by offering them professional evaluations and then selecting the most promising ones and helping develop them.

Thirteen entrepreneurial teams and thirteen innovation teams faced off in the final competition on Dec 27. It was watched by over 300 investors and company representatives, plus a professional judge panel.

Guangdong Xunwei Technology was the winner in the entrepreneurial category. Their logging technology, based on an intelligent optical fiber monitoring system, was considered advanced and practical. Livzon Group won in the innovation category for its breakthroughs in bio-pharmacy.

Of the 10 finalists intending to set up operations in Xiangzhou, Zhuhai, six signed cooperation agreements immediately. Two entrepreneurial projects with a high commercial value were offered a combined 250 million yuan ($36 million) in funding.

Other award-winning teams included those representing Zhuhai Huge-IC, Gree Electric Appliances, and Guangdong VTR Bio-Tech.

First-prize winners

The competition kicked off in September and attracted a total of 289 companies from home and abroad. The number of competing projects was cut down to 120 during preliminary selections in Zhuhai, Chongqing and Fuzhou. Participating businesses were involved in intelligent manufacturing, internet, internet of things, artificial intelligence, new materials, and more.
