Agricultural expo begins Friday at Taiwan Farmers Park

A wide variety of flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, and more will be displayed at Taiwan Farmers Venture Park in Jinwan District from Dec 28 to Jan 12.

A follow-up to the 17th Guangdong Seed Expo held Dec 10-13 in Guangzhou, the Zhuhai exhibition will put forth hundreds of kinds of horticultural plants and advanced techniques for breeding bouquet seeds. Attendees are primarily agricultural departments, seed enterprises, scientific research units, seed dealers, and farmers.

Pumpkins

Demonstrated will be the latest achievements by the modern seed industry in Zhuhai regarding vegetables, flowers, fruit, corn, and orchids.

New vegetable-planting techniques will be shared at an advanced agricultural technology exhibition hall during the second phase of the park. The 4,000 sq m (1 acre) reserved for five greenhouses will show giant pumpkins, many varieties of tomato, and space-exposed seeds. It will provide a glimpse of cultivation techniques for mass production, appealing esthetics, and other purposes.

The indoor flower display will cover over 30 varieties of orchids over 1,500 sq m (.37 acres). Included will be information on Zhuhai's agricultural progress and the park's major enterprises. There will also be a multi-colored sea of flowers covering 25 mu (4.1 acres).

Tomatoes

Fruits indigenous to Zhuhai, as well as famous products from surrounding areas, will be displayed in a 50-sq-m (60-sq-yd) area. There will be dragon fruit, yellow pitahaya, wax apples, carambola, guava, and grapes.

The expansive 30-mu (4.9-acre) display of corn is another highlight. Being prepared are more than 70 varieties of fresh corn, both indigenous and imported.

The Tropical Orchid (International) Seed Industry R&D Center in the park will devote 9,600 sq m (2.4 acres) to indoor and outdoor displays of orchids. Visitors can learn about the entire cultivation process, from tissue culture to planting and flower forcing. Some orchids can be purchased and taken home at a specially arranged sales exhibition area.
