Shennong Stream Scenic Area is located in Badong county, Enshi city, Hubei province, on the border between Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. Taking its rise from the main peak of Shennongjia (the highst peak in central China) and flowing through Badong county, it stretches for 60 kilometers and ultimately flows into the Yangtze River via the Wu Gorge.

It has four natural gorges – Shennong, Mianzhu, Yingwu and Longchang – each with unique characteristics.

Among the four gorges, Mianzhu Gorge is renowned for its danger. The riverbed is not only narrow but also falls steeply. Over 30 dangerous shoals will challenge everyone along the 2.5 miles route.

Longchang Gorge is the one that nurtures unique human civilization. The ancient suspended wooden coffins and plank road are the highlights of the section.

The serene natural beauty, local Tujia flavors, the brave boat trackers, and historic relics will certainly make the trip a memorable one.
