Foshan holds advanced equipment manufacturing expo

On Dec 17, the 4th Exposition for Investment and Trade of Advanced Equipment Manufacturing on the West Bank of the Pearl River (the 4th AEME Expo) kicked off in Shunde, Foshan and will run for three days.

Advanced products and high-quality industrial resources from eight cities in Guangdong, Zhuhai, Foshan, Shaoguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Zhaoqing and Yunfu – are on display at the event. The eight cities are cooperating to promote Guangdong's equipment manufacturing industry and facilitate development.

The 4th AEME Expo is divided into four parts: an exhibition, a project-signing event, an investment promotion event and an industry forum. There are three exhibition halls with a total exhibition area of about 30,000 square meters. The exhibition halls are arranged according to city and the construction achievements of the advanced equipment manufacturing industry on the west bank of the Pearl River are concentrated in one area. Two high-end industrial forums focusing on patents, and investment and financing have been set up. There are 220 exhibitors, about 804 exhibits and 245 projects at the expo, with a total planned investment of 242.83 billion yuan ($35.21 billion). Among the 245 projects, 65 are valued at more than 1 billion yuan.

At the opening ceremony, 16 representative projects were recommended for signing. They mainly involved machine tool manufacturing, robots, new energy vehicles, high-end marine engineering, offshore wind power equipment, general aviation and satellite applications, high-end medical equipment and more.

The  AEME Expo has been held in Foshan for four consecutive years and is expected to attract about 50,000 people this year, including famous advanced equipment manufacturing experts, merchants and visitors from home and abroad.

A total of 18 exhibitors at the expo are based in Foshan. The 44 exhibits focus on the technical equipment, industrial robot and intelligent manufacturing production lines, as well as hydrogen energy equipment developed and produced in Foshan in recent years.

Other exhibits include a self-designed, unmanned military ship from Zhuhai that can be used to carry test equipment, radars, weapons, etc., and a bartending robot that can be loaded with four base wines and six additional ingredients, and can be used to mix 20 different kinds of cocktails.

Equipment manufacturing is considered Foshan's number-one industry. The city is playing a leading role in building the advanced equipment manufacturing belt on the west bank of the Pearl River. From January to September this year, Foshan's equipment manufacturing industry achieved at 97.62 billion yuan in industrial added value, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 percent, one percent higher than the growth rate of the city's total industrial added value (6.4 percent). The machine tool manufacturing industry was valued at 23.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.4 percent.
