Guangzhou Citizen Cultural Festival benefits 2 million locals

The 2018 Guangzhou Citizen Cultural Festival, a cultural event put on for the city's residents, came to an end on Dec 18 following a special closing ceremony held at the Guangdong Performing Arts Center Theatre.

This year's event attracted over 2 million participants, who engaged in around 2,000 special activities from June to December. The festival included exhibitions of Lingnan calligraphy, paintings, dramas, folk songs, square dances and original music, showcasing the vibrant culture of Guangzhou.

During the festival, a range of performances, including Cantonese opera, choruses, square dances and more, were given in 15 villages throughout many of Guangzhou's districts.

At the festival's closing ceremony, several performances were honored with gold medals.
