The exports of ships in Fujian reached 4.71 billion yuan ($685.6 million) in value from January to October, up 76.7 percent compared to the same period last year, statistics from the Xiamen Customs show.

The figure for the month of October alone stood at 140 million yuan, an uptick of 100 percent year-on-year.

The ASEAN bloc is still the largest importer for Fujian ships despite a downturn trend. Statistics show that from January to October, the value of ships imported by the bloc reached 1.62 billion yuan, a decrease of 14.9 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong emerged as another arch market for Fujian, with the ship exports to the SAR soaring by 39.1 percent to 800 million yuan.

Exports to Angola, Marshall Islands and Nigeria stood at 590 million, 580 million and 210 million yuan respectively. Notably, the figure for Angola and Nigeria was zero last year.

Non-navigational vessels, liquid cargo ships, bulk cargo ships and tugboats comprised the four varieties of ships that were used for Fujian exports over the January-to-October period.
