The Central Soviet Area (MinXi) history Museum, established in 1986, is the only museum in Longyan that displays in an overall and systematic way the revolutionary history in Minxiregion (the western areas of Fujian province) of the Central Soviet Area, with a focus on the great revolutionary practices of the proletarian revolutionists in Minxi in the first half of the 20th century as well as the significance and contributions of Minxi in the history of the Chinese revolution.

The museum houses nearly 20,000 cultural relics. The exhibitions center on the Minxi people's fight against imperialism, bureaucrat capitalism and reactionaries in the new-democratic revolution under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the achievements made by the Minxi people during the period of China's socialist revolution and construction, especially since China's reform and opening-up in 1978. Meanwhile, relevant items of 78 generals native to Minxi are also on display.

Some of the precious items include the uniform of Liu Yalou (1910-1965), a native of Fujian province and one of the founding marshals of the People's Liberation Army of China, a pair of binoculars used in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945), and a manuscript of Han opera, one of the local operas of Fujian.
