Guangdong Consumers Council has taken the lead in the country to open a special hotline: 020—85597315 to help handle the complaints from consumers who shop online on the Singles Day on Nov 11.

The online trading usually reaches its peak period when the Singles Day arrives and complaints also usually come to their peak period, said Guangdong Consumers Council in a statement.

"And therefore consumers council at every level in province should introduce concrete and effective measures to help handle the large number of complaints involving online fraud, poor quality, unfair trade and related problems that netizens face while shopping online," said the statement.

Guangdong, one of the country's economic powerhouses, is a big province in terms of online business.

The hotline is available from Nov 11 to Dec 11.

Meanwhile the consumers council has also established special task forces to help prevent and deal with the conflicts between consumers and sellers and help create a safety and harmony online business environment for the Singles Day.

Starting this month, Guangdong Consumers Council aslo has arranged talks with Taobao, JD, VIP, Suning.com and other major online giants, urging them to adhere to business integrity during the Singles Day online sales peak period.
