A newly released Peking Opera Dashengkui was staged in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 15.

The opera marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up and the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The work, published by Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes, was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Culture Department in Inner Mongolia.

Focused on Dashengkui, the first business established in the northern area of the country, the opera tells the story of the efforts Dashengkui made in pushing forward cross-border trade during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
