With three eagles and five birdies, playing a zero-bogey 10-under 62, Scotland's golfer Grant Forrest on Thursday broke the record of the least stroke in 2018 Hainan Open European Challenge Tour: 65 scores of all 18 holes.

Starting from the back-nine at Sanya Luhuitou Golf Club this afternoon, Forrest secured his magic opening of the first match day, after a birdie in the 11th hole, he got two eagles successively in the 12th and 13th hole, for the first time in his career.

"The Luhuitou course is not easy," said Forrest after the game, and he gave the credit to his long range tee ball, "it can carry more than 300 yards, fly over most of the obstacles, this is the most crucial point of today."

Closely behind Forrest, Kalle Samooja from Finland ranked the second after round one, scoring a total 65. And with a birdie in the last hole, the Chinese player Luo Xuewen put himself in a tie with Liam Johnston and Matt Ford for the third place.

Luo is also the only Chinese player in the top 40 of the ranking list. He believes that the mindset comes first in a tournament.

"This is not a one-day game, I should keep calm and make it to the last day," said Luo.
