The renovated Yangpu Library combines ancient-style architecture and modern facilities.
The building, built in the 1930s and modeled on the Bell Tower in Beijing, was designed by celebrated architect Dong Dayou (1899-1973). It features colored drawing on the roof, glazed tiles and terrazzos.
The renovation started in 2012 and took more than 100 craftsmen a year to complete.
Although built in an ancient style, the library is equipped with all kinds of digital facilities for a modern library.
