Booming horse industry in Inner Mongolia

The horse population of Inner Mongolia, at 848,000, rose to first position in China, according to statistics published by Inner Mongolia agriculture and animal husbandry department on Oct 10.

As one of the regions with the largest number of horses in China and the world, Inner Mongolia has great potential for the development of horse related industries.

In recent years, Inner Mongolia has been carrying out genetic diversity protection of its unique horse breed – the Mongolian horse. This breed is usually found in northern areas in China, Mongolia and Russia, and the horses are highly sought-after for their natural ability to withstand cold and drought.

Recently, equestrian sports and tourism industries are on the rise in Inner Mongolia. Horse-related industrial systems and commercial markets will continue to be developed in the near future.
