Southwest China's Guizhou province gained a staggering 33.21 billion yuan ($4.82 billion) during the National Day holiday (Oct 1-7) this year, a year-on-year increase of 35.67 percent, according to the Guizhou Tourism Development Committee.

Approximately 49.34 million tourists from home and abroad visited the province during the holiday, an increase of 32.74 percent compared to the same period last year.

A survey conducted by a third party specializing in the analysis of tourism development shows there has been an improvement in the pricing of tourism-related products in Guizhou, giving it a 43.68 percent satisfaction from visitors during the holiday.

Supported by an ever-developing transportation infrastructure, the province has seen more tourists arriving by car from places across the country, including the neighboring provinces of Southwest China's Sichuan and Yunnan and East China's Zhejiang province.

Statistics show that 55.1 percent of visitors from sampled tourism attractions drove to Guizhou for their holiday.

Thanks to the targeted tourism measures implemented by the province, new scenic spots, such as the ancient paper-making methods experience center, natural heritages pavilion and forest adventure, are attracting more and more visitors.

Rich in spring resorts, Guizhou also saw a large number of visitors coming for medical treatment and wellbeing. Sampled resorts received 340,000 visitors during the holiday, bringing in a revenue of 130 million yuan.

Sites related to the founding of China, such as those with a history relating to the Red Army, were particularly popular, witnessing more than 100,000 visitors during the holiday.
