The 2018 Jilin Television Week commenced in La Rochelle, capital city of Charente-Maritime, France on Oct 4.
Television shows produced by Jilin were launched on the mainstream media of France for the first time. Documentaries and micro films such as Family Feasts, Liquors of Guandong and Colourful Pillows demonstrated the unique culture of the northeastern Chinese province on various popular TV stations in France, including MandarinTV, OrangeTV, and ARTE.
Charente-Maritime and Jilin have formed close international collaborations in business, culture and the TV and film industry since 2011. The two provinces initiated the Asia Sunshine Film Festival project in February and will work on boosting communications among young film-makers and students.
Zhang Zhiwei, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee of Jilin province and Sylvie Marcilly, vice chairman of the Provincial Assembly of Charente-Maritime attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches on the cultural exchanges between the two sides.

"Despite the geographical gap between Jilin and Charente-Maritime, we share mutual understandings on the culture industry. The friendship will be further strengthened through our joint efforts in the future,” said Sylvie Marcilly.
A photo exhibition featuring Jilin’s beautiful landscapes was also held during the event, offering French people a broader perspective on Jilin.
