Unique features of this route: Seven-star Lake is a welcome refuge from the scorching desert sun, and the Engebei oasis is a refreshing stop you don't want to miss. As one of the biggest deserts in China, Kubuqi desert was once a threat to the lifestyle of the local people but now green belts have been built to arrest its expansion, and desert tourism is booming. Visitors can plant trees, take a break and experience what it's like to be part of one of the tree planting squads.

5. Health tour

Kangbashi new district - - Ordos Prairie - - Bulong Lake Hot Springs Scenic Spot - - Arjai Grotto - - Ulan town - - Dongsheng district

Unique features of this route: Looking at the endless horizon on the plains, seeing the sun-scorched dunes reminiscent of Dunhuang dessert, and soaking in the hot springs are some of the highlights along the route. West Ordos Natural Reserve is a national natural conservation area and home to some exotic rare plants. The Arjai Grotto has been known as a prairie version of Dunhuang and offers a day of exploring its mysterious wonders. Local hot springs contain health-restoring minerals and offer an interesting experience.
