Closer cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) is likely now that Zhuhai Party Secretary Guo Yonghang met with a delegation from the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) on Sept 27.

Zhuhai, one of the earliest special economic zones in China, is gifted with an unparalleled location advantage and development environment. These will be further enhanced with accelerated construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Guo noted.

Leading the delegation was Dr Earl Sacerdoti, a member of the Palo Alto, California-based association's Executive Council. He predicted that new technologies such as AI will be key sectors of Zhuhai's development, and said that the city promises a better business environment and services.

Sacerdoti observed a burgeoning city and anticipated ramping up cooperation in AI technological applications, propelling a new round of development.

The delegation included KG Charles-Harris, CEO of Quarrio; and Dr Volkmar Scharf-Katz, that company's vice president of engineering; Michael Madison, managing director of Sozo Ventures; and Gustav Arron James, authorized signatory of Hackers/Founders.
