A new academician workstation has been established in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a signing ceremony held on Sept 6, according to Baotou Daily.

The academician workstation, co-developed by Yin Weilun, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), will focus on the five functions of greenery: soil and water conservation, vegetation growth, atmospheric control and ecological services. It will build an integrated, open and cooperative platform for construction, production, learning and research.

Yin Weilun established the quantitative evaluation theory of the photosynthesis ability on growth potential evaluation theory and technology, a plant’s drought and flood resistance, and developed a rapid and reliable physiological quantification to select excellent anti-reversal and fast-growing improved seed technology. He also developed high-yielding seed garden varieties. The technology has been responsible for scientific research results based on the theory and technology of precise water-saving irrigation according to the needs of life, and made Yin an expert in the field, with outstanding contributions at the national level.
