Baotou receives 742,000 holiday tourists

Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received a total of 742,000 tourists during the three-day Mid-autumn Festival period which ran from Sept 22 to 24, according to Baotou Daily.

Tourism revenue reached 393 million yuan ($57.19 million).

Tourists to the city mostly preferred short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Wudang Lamasery, Meidai Monastery, Chilechuan scenic area, Nanhai Wetland scenic area and the Shimen scenic area.

A variety of festival themed activities were organized to encourage the growth of the tourism industry, including moon cake DIY activities and festival-themed exhibitions.

In order to maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists visiting Baotou, the city has carried out extra security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements to ensure adequate numbers of officials on duty to handle complaints over the holiday.
