Xiangzhou District has designated 80 countryside immovable cultural heritages for protection in accordance with requirements of the Guangdong Bureau of Cultural Relics, announced the district Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau on Aug 28.

There are three national, 10 provincial, 18 municipal and county-level, and 49 ordinary cultural heritages spread throughout eight towns and sub-districts.

Qianshan Sub-district tops the list with 30 heritage structures, including three national key cultural relics protection units: Former Residence of Chen Fang (Chun Afong), Meixi Royal Stone Archways, and Chen Fang Family Graveyard.

Nanping Town follows suit with 22 immovable cultural heritages. Three of them -- Yang Great Ancestral Hall in Beishan Village, Former Residence of Rong Hong (Yung Wing), and former Zhenxian School founded by Yung Wing, all located in Nanping Town, are provincial cultural heritages.

The other 28 immovable cultural relics are in Gongbei, Cuixiang, Wanzai, Jida, and Xiangwan and Shishan sub-districts.

The recognized cultural relics will be protected by laws and regulations from man-made damage, unauthorized removal, and demolition. Every year, local governments at all levels will allocate a specialized fund for repair and renovation.
