From January to April in 2018, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Jiangsu were 1.0875 trillion yuan ($157.62 billion), a year-on-year increase of 9.9 percent.

Retail sales of cars continued to pick up. The cumulative retail sales from January to April were 116.13 billion yuan with a growth of 7.4 percent, and the growth rate was 3.9 percent larger than that of the same period last year.

The retail sales of oil and oil goods were increasing faster. The total retail sales from January to April reached 47.64 billion yuan, increased by 11.5 percent year on year and contributing to 17.2 percent of the growth of the provincial retail sales.

The goods related to consumption upgrading sold well. The retail sales of goods such as communication appliances, jewelry and furniture were increased by 52.2 percent, 11.2 percent and 22.5 percent respectively.

Online retail sales rose greatly. The cumulative online retail sales in the first half year of 2018 were 361.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 27.1 percent.
