Jiuyuan district of Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has invested 2.1 billion yuan ($305 million) over the past three years into its beautiful village project.

The project includes 42 administrative villages and 129 natural villages.

In 2017, Langui Village of Harlingeer Town was selected as a model village for improving the living environment by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is one of the two villages from Inner Mongolia that was on the list.

Suona Village and Zhangliu Village were chosen as autonomous region-level demonstration villages.

By carrying out the work of classification and resource utilization of rural domestic waste, Jiuyuan District was named as the first batch of demonstration districts for the classification and utilization of rural domestic waste in 100 counties (cities, districts), by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is the only district in Baotou that has won the honor.
