Shanxi Cardiovascular Hospital (Shanxi Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases), established in 1980, is part of the Shanxi Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission. It includes a collection of medical, scientific research, teaching, prevention, healthcare, rehabilitation, and community facilities.
It is a first-tier specialist hospital and a teaching hospital of Shanxi Medical University (as the Affiliated Cardiovascular Hospital of Shanxi Medical University).
The Department of Cardiology is a National Key Clinical Construction Specialty and a Shanxi Provincial Key Medical Discipline. The Cardiac Catheterization Unit is a Coronary Heart Disease and Arrhythmia Interventional Treatment Training Base of the National Health Commission.
The hospital has 800 beds, 29 clinical and medical departments and 18 administrative departments. The hospital provides fast emergency cardiac care and acute myocardial infarction interventional treatment, as well as round-the-clock emergency and critical care services.
The hospital has more than 1,000 employees, including three doctoral advisors, 17 teachers advising postgraduate students, 12 doctors, 170 members of staff who hold a master's degree, five experts in receipt of special allowances from the State Council, one expert who has made outstanding contributions to China's public health, three renowned doctors from Shanxi, 27 senior professionals, and 70 sub-senior professionals.
The hospital sees more than 200,000 outpatients (emergency) each year, and more than 20,000 inpatients are discharged. The hospital conducts around 15,000 surgeries annually.
