A demonstration section of the facelift of the Southern Lovers Avenue greenbelt, repairing damage caused by devastating typhoons last summer, was completed on July 30.

Reconstituted is a green area of 19,200 sq m (4.7 acres) along an 800-m (2,625-ft) section from the Jiuzhou to Haiwan rest stations. The entire restoration area runs from the GSM Edifice to Gongbei Checkpoint, 4.5 km (2.8 miles) long, 24 m (79 ft) wide, and covering 108,000 sq m (26.7 acres).

The green landscape belt saw damaged or misshaped trees replaced with new seedlings, making it a more intimate part of the coastal scenery.

The new automatic irrigation system features a buried nozzle that automatically adjusts in accordance with water pressure. It irrigates on a regular basis with varied angles instead of focusing on just one area.

Broken stone benches and the promenade surface were repaired with Guangdong granite. Tropical trees such as phoenix sylvestris and llex purpuea Hassk were planted to further adorn the roadside. Lawns along the route were replanted with Taiwanese grass, which has slender but flexible stems and blades that are resistant to trampling.

The work was overseen by Xingzhou Zhengfang Holdings.
