One-stop service speeds up administrative processes in Northeast China

Wang Guoping recently walked into the government affairs service center of Changchun's Jiutai district in Northeast China's Jilin province, and was pleasantly surprised by the efficient service she was greeted with. Within one visit, she had walked out with an approved application. A one-stop service was introduced at the center earlier this year, in the hopes of providing a more convenient and enjoyable experience to those visiting the center.

"It is much easier than before," said Wang, who works at a construction company, adding that it used to take about one week and lots of travelling between various departments to complete any governmental applications. She said that it is now much faster because people can receive a one-stop service at the center.Wang is not the only one to have benefited from the newly streamlined service. Residents in Jiutai district have said that they are now finding it easier to complete administrative tasks, as local authorities continue making efforts to build a public service-oriented government.

Since the new model of service was introduced, the center has handled 867 one-stop service applications, accounting for 98% of the total amount of applications made this year.

Besides providing a more efficient service, the center is also shaking off the negative reputation that government departments had had. Through free WiFi access, waiting chairs, and self-service facilities, people are now finding overall experiences at the center much more pleasant than before.

Already offering services such as examinations and application evaluations in economic activities, construction, social affairs as well as the trading of public resources, the center plans to add another 91 items onto its service list this year, bringing the total number of offered services to 127.
