Nantong First People’s Hospital grew out of the Nantong State Christian hospital, built in 1907. It was taken over by the government in 1951. The hospital was certified as a Class B, Grade Three comprehensive hospital in 1994 and upgraded to a Class A, Grade Three general hospital in 2008. By the end of 2011, it covered an area of 41,000 square meters, with a construction area of 89,000 square meters. The medical staff consists of 1,366 people, and there are 1,200 hospital beds, 32 wards, 32 clinic disciplines, 24 medical and technical departments and 36 special outpatient clinics. Both the Nantong clinical laboratory center and the radio-immunology center are situated in the hospital.
