The ASEAN Education Cooperation Week will deepen cooperation between China and the ASEAN bloc, paving the way for more successful projects, said Indranee THURAI RAJAH, minister of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The minister sent her voice during a meeting with a government delegation led by Guizhou Party chief Sun Zhigang and Guizhou Governor Shen Qinyi, discussing arrangements for the ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, which opened in Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province on July 26.

Other government and industrial senior officials from ASEAN countries also attended the meeting, including Myanmar's Minister of Education, the Cambodian Ambassador to China and Vice-Minister of Education Tian Xuejun.

As an important platform in Guizhou's opening-up, the week has always been highly valued by the central government. It has turned into a national cultural exchange platform instead of a single regional education exchange tool, Sun said.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's opening-up and reform policy and the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership. The week is of great significance to the future development of the China-ASEAN relationship, Sun added.

During the meeting, the Singaporean minister hailed Guizhou as a promising place full of development potential, and she hopes the week will further strengthen the relationship between China and ASEAN.
