Some 9.3 million yuan ($1.37 million) will be spent to fix damage along Zhuhai Avenue's greenbelt that was inflicted by Typhoon Hato last summer. New landscaping is to be completed in time for the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in November.

Hato, the strongest typhoon to hit Zhuhai in more than 53 years, downed or damaged greenbelt trees along the major artery serving Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport. It presents a first impression of the ecological environment of Zhuhai and its cityscape.

The project has already been approved, the Zhuhai Development & Reform Bureau announced on July 25.

The restoration will focus on the section within Jinwan District, part of Provincial Road S366. It will start from the west of Zhuhai Bridge and stretch about 33.2 km (20.6 miles) to Gaolan Port Avenue.

Broken branches will be cut off and fallen trees restored to their natural positions, while dead or missing trees will be replaced. Land lots with unsightly greenery will be improved and equipped with automated irrigation systems.
