The second Baotou Wind Music Festival opened in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on July 18, according to Baotou Evening News.

The three-day festival, hosted by Baotou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, serves as an event to promote wind music and put Baotou on the map as a destination for live music.

It is held biennially and the focus of each festival is different. This year’s session features the flute, trombone, saxophone, clarinet and percussion instruments.

The festival organizers have also arranged open seminars where people can learn more about the instruments being played at this year’s festival.

Artists from home and abroad have been invited to give performances during the music festival, including Lu Tingquan, one of the first Chinese saxophonists to play jazz music.
