Inner Mongolia’s Ulaanqab (Ulanqab) hosted the 2018 Ulaanqab-Mongolia-Russia International Exposition from June 28 to July 2, with the purpose of developing trilateral trade, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.

The expo attracted 153 foreign exhibitors from Russia and Mongolia, and 145 Chinese exhibitors from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, Hohhot, Baotou and Datong. They brought more than 5,000 products including paintings and handicrafts.

Ulaanqab  played a role in trade between Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Eurasian countries along the ancient grassland Silk Road, and has maintained good relationships with Russia and Mongolia, said Du Xuejun, secretary of the CPC Ulaanqab municipal committee.

“We have put effort into building a platform for Russian and Mongolian traders to enter China’s market through freight trains and airline services, and the city is expected to take advantage of local resources to become an inland hub of commodity collecting and distributing, product processing and industrial clusters between Chinese entrepreneurs,” Du said.

Ulaanqab is located at the junction of the Bohai Economic Rim and the Hohhot-Baotou-Yinchuan-Yulin Economic Belt. It is also a transportation hub connecting North China, Northeast China and northwest economic areas.

In addition, the city has been recognized as a pivot along the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and a stop for Sino-European freight trains. The expo was designed to seize the opportunity to pragmatically promote opening-up in economic and cultural fields.
