Chinese and Russian performers took part in a concert in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 24, winning praise and applause from local residents.

The concert was part of events held annually to exchange culture and promote friendly ties between China and Russia. Performances of Western music and traditional ethnic Mongolian songs were staged at the concert, including opera, piano recitals and throat singing (khoomei).It is an amazing opportunity for a child to experience the culture of another country, said Liu Yuan, who took her 6-year-old son to the concert.

Li Hai, a deputy director of the Ministry of Education expressed his hopes that the event would help enable young people to better understand different cultures.
