The first high-speed railway line, linking Zhanjiang in western Guangdong province with Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, is projected to begin operating in July, according to the Changsha South Railway Station.

The line will cut down travel time from the current 16 hours and 44 minutes to only 6 hours, almost one third the time of the K-series train.

The Changsha-Zhanjiang line, which passes through cities like Jiangmen, Yangjiang and Maoming, will also be the fastest link between cities in western Guangdong province and the Pearl River Delta region.

The western Guangdong region has a long coastline endowed with beautiful ocean views and many other tourism resources.

With summer vacation – the peak tourism season – approaching, the upcoming high-speed line will offer more convenience to Changsha travelers eager to experience life in South China.

Schedule and pricing details will be announced later on the ticket-booking website 12306.
