Twelve Zhuhai hi-tech companies have recently clinched contracts with a combined value of nearly 200 million yuan ($31 million) in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden at branch venues of the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF).

The CHTF, co-hosted by Ministries and Commissions of the national government and the Shenzhen municipal government, is said to be the largest and most influential scientific and technological fair in China. International exchanges and displays usually take place in foreign countries ahead of the main event which is held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province later the same year.

Gree Electric Appliances, By-health Biotechnology, Singyes (Xingye) New Energy, Sunbird Yacht Manufacturing, XH Smart and other Zhuhai companies accredited as High & New-Technology Enterprises (HNTEs) attended the fair, bringing home multiple investments for the city's cutting-edge technologies, which include artificial intelligence, clean energy, new materials, biomedicine, information technology, and smart city advances among other emerging industries. Forums, project roadshows, and face-to-face business communications gave them extra exposure at the various venues.

Since 2005, the international events have been respectively held in different countries including Austria, Spain, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Belgium and Russia. The next main session of the China Hi-Tech Fair, the 20th edition, will be held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov 14 to 18.
