One hundred and forty multimedia machines were put into service at cultural service centers in Changsha County on May 24, a big move to promote local cultural development.

Local residents will be able to watch various cultural programs, dance performances and other videos via the machines. Not only adults but also children can find what they are interested in.

"We can learn how to dance while watching the video and even download it to our mobile phones. It is very convenient!" said local Li Yuqi, who was learning how to use the machine under a staff member's guidance.

Such public cultural facilities are part of the county's people-benefit project. Changsha County was designated one of the pilot zones in Hunan province to set up a main-branch library system and share cultural information resources.

The Hunan Provincial Department of Culture's distribution of the machines to 140 stations across Changsha county provides an excellent cultural resource at the grassroots level.

In addition, 1.5 billion yuans' worth of public digital service devices was also offered to the county.

In recent years, Changsha county has invested more than 5 million yuan building a digital cultural center in a bid to enhance public cultural construction and promote cultural resources sharing.

At present, the first phase of the digital cultural center has been finished, and people are able to search cultural activities and training information, watch programs and check out the books from home.
