Bird watchmen guard Ulansuhai Nur

Ulansuhai Nur (Wuliangsuhai), one of the eight largest freshwater lakes in China, has seen its improved air and water quality entice 6 million wild birds for nesting and breeding every year.

Much of the credit for this should go to staff at the Ulansuhai Nur Wetland waterfowl protection station who make daily observations, rescue and treat wounded migratory birds, and strengthen patrols to prevent theft of birds and eggs.

The Ulansuhai Nur Wetland, in Urad Front Banner of Bayannuur, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has become an ideal habitat for a variety of aquatic plants and birdlife in recent weeks, thanks to increased pollution control.
