Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cooperation was boosted on May 15 when the Chamber of Hong Kong Logistics Industry (CHKLI) and Zhuhai Free Trade Zone agreed to shift the business of aviation logistics to Zhuhai.

Covered in the signed agreement are air transport, cross-border e-commerce, and cold chain logistics. The move was spurred by formation of the Greater Bay Area and pending opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

The Administrative Committee of the Zhuhai FTZ entered into the strategic partnership to establish a joint meeting system and strong communication mechanism with CHKLI to speed up regional exchanges of relevant information.

Concerns from Hong Kong industry players about customs clearance through the only free trade zone on the west bank of the Pear River had been delicately handled. As a result, a CHKLI investment consultation office in the zone will collect more requirements and aid in the business, according to an official.

The FTZ investment promotion team has organized industry exchanges and visits. The team also assists in regional promotion, policy presentation, exhibition arrangement, and business recommendations.

The Zhuhai FTZ was approved by the State Council to have special customs supervision. It provides a strong business environment and preferential policies for businesses engaged in international trade, modern logistics, and maintenance. The zone enjoys a strategic location near Hengqin New Area and Hongwan Port, along with direct access to the cross-delta bridge, which will generate even more economic benefits.

Hong Kong is a jumping-off point for overseas investment to enter the mainland market. Meanwhile, founded in 2005, CHKLI is independent and has strong influence on the economic and business development of the Hong Kong logistics Industry. It bridges cooperation and exchanges between the former British colony, the Chinese mainland, and international logistics industry. The chamber also helps domestic businesses expand in Hong Kong and international markets.

Song Wei, deputy director of the FTZ Administrative Committee; CHKLI chairman Ken Chung, and honorary president Steve Lo Wong Fung attended the signing ceremony.
