Ultramarathon to open in Laoniuwan Geopark

Laoniuwan Geopark Ultramarathon is set to open at Qingshuihe county in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous region on August 11, according to a conference held in Shanghai recently.

The event was organized by the sport service center in Inner Mongolia, Hohhot Sports Bureau, and the government of Qingshuihe county.

As the first ultramarathon in Inner Mongolia, the event attracts some 500 runners from across the nation.

The upcoming event features a 100 km and a 60 km ultramarathon.

Located in the junction of Inner Mongolia and Shanxi Province, Laoniuwan valley is where the Great Wall and the Yellow River meet. It is considered as one of the most beautiful valleys in China.
